LET’S TALK…

FAQs

  • A Legacy Film is a short documentary film about you or your loved one that takes the viewer back through your life. It is created using the experience of oral history and documentary filmmaking to ask insightful questions, ensuring you feel respected, valued, and empowered by the entire process.

  • Legacy Films are mainly geared towards seniors, but in special circumstances, they can accommodate younger folks as well.

  • Every Legacy Film has a team of two skilled people: the Filmmaker and the Listener. The Filmmaker is the director of the project and is responsible for managing the light, cameras, and sound to ensure the film is top-notch quality. The Listener is the one who sits across from you and asks you questions about your story.

  • The process of making a Legacy Film involves three main parts: the Pre-project Chat, the Recording Session, and Reviewing the Film.

  • During the Pre-project Chat, you’ll talk with Josh (the Filmmaker behind Legacy Films) to get to know each other a little before the project begins. There won’t be any cameras, just an opportunity for us to get a feel for your story and determine what you want the film to be like.

  • During the recording session, the team sits down with you, asks questions, and listens to your story as they record it. You'll have 1-3 listening sessions, depending on the package you choose, and they typically last between 30-60 minutes each. We like to do these listening sessions in your home to incorporate your surroundings into your story.

  • B-roll is footage you’ll see sometimes in a film while you hear the speaker’s voice. With Legacy Films, there are 3 types of B-roll that we use: your old photos and videos, historical archival footage, and present-day footage of you. The team will work with you to direct this portion of the filming.

  • When the first draft is completed, you’ll receive a link you can use to watch. If you love it exactly as is, the project is complete. However, if you want changes made, you can jot them down and let us know. We want you to feel empowered and in the driver's seat with this project, so we’ll do their best to make any necessary changes.

  • In the end, you'll have a captivating film where you tell your story in your own voice. We’ll encapsulate your legacy so that future generations never forget this part of who they are.
