I’m an artist and filmmaker based in New Haven, CT

I see art as a powerful tool for positive change in society. From the first ideas of a project to its final cut, I believe filmmaking can be emotionally intelligent. This means people over profit, relationships first, and filmmaking without the toxic bullshit. I treat clients and teammates with respect. It means I won’t use film to exploit someone’s story. It means the films I make have purpose. Sometimes humor is the spoonful of sugar that helps the medicine go down. A dash of whimsy is just my style. I value relationships, beautiful lighting, moving scores, deep colors, ethical storytelling, and authenticity. I’m located in New Haven, but I love to travel! You can hire me as a Director, Director of Photography, Camera Operator, Set Dresser, Storyboard Artist, or Editor.

FILMMAKING FOR NONPROFITS

Using years of experience in the nonprofit industry, I can help you create compelling stories that engage and inspire your audience, all while respecting the individuals you work with. My approach to storytelling is grounded in ethics and avoids sensationalism, ensuring that our project has a positive impact on everyone involved. I work with nonprofits in New Haven, CT, NYC, and Boston, MA, as well as across the world.

FEATURED NONPROFIT VIDEO

Beliytu lives in rural Ethiopia. She’s connected with an international human rights organization called Three Roots International. I had the privilege of meeting Beliytu and collaborating with her to create this film about her experience working with Three Roots.

DOCUMENTARY

Here’s a teaser for a documentary I’m working on, in a candid exploration of fatherhood preparedness.

NARRATIVE WORK

Sprained is a whimsical dramedy short film following the stream of consciousness of an overworked, lonely millennial. As he reflects, it begins to dawn on him that perhaps pain isn’t something to be ashamed of after all. Filmed during the pandemic, the story hints at COVID wrought isolation in a lighthearted exploration of social anxiety. In less than 5 minutes, Sprained will capture your eye and leave you with a thought and chuckle.

MY FILMMAKING DEMO REEL

  • "Working with Josh was a true pleasure. He was very thorough with understanding the vision of our brand, as well as our mission. He took our ideas, and used his artistry to bring it to life in the way that only he can do. We are obviously pleased with the final product, but the process of working with him was great as well. Communication was always clear and regular. Josh was very responsive to all of our questions and inquiries. His work should speak for itself, but let this be a testament to his character, work ethic, and dedication to his craft as well. HIGHLY recommended."

  • "Josh is a great to work with! Not only is he prompt and organized, he is talented, kind, and creative. His passion for his job truly shows in his work. We would highly recommend."

    Jennifer Zotta | Documentary Client

  • "Josh is absolutely amazing! Even though I'm also videographer, he filmed and edited a video for a song I wrote since I can't film myself. He took my song and blew it out of the water!! The final product was better than anything I could have ever done. Throughout the whole process he was organized, responsive, and open to ideas/criticisms. It also was extremely helpful that he's a musician too. I would absolutely work with Josh again!"

Meredith Cuddihy | Narrative Filmmaking Client

  • "Working with Josh, was a complete dream. We did a full photo and video shoot in one morning and the experience felt completely effortless. The outcome from this shoot was even better, I had so many amazing photos and videos to choose from for my marketing, I couldn’t ask for anything more. I highly recommend Josh and I’m looking forward to my next collaboration with him!"
